Suprise Site Visits!
As part of the Construction Inspection Initiative 2011 Health & Safety Inspectors will be visiting construction sites from Monday 14th February to Friday 11th March.

They will be paying particular attention to smaller sites and will be concentrating on checking these sites are adhering to regulations concerning working at height, asbestos surveys and good order on site.

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 explain that anyone who works at height must be trained. Read more at http://www.hse.gov.uk/falls/regulations.htm.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 stipulates that anyone who is at risk of being exposed to asbestos require mandatory training. This includes anyone who is liable to disturb the fabrication of any building built before 2000. Read more at http://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/regulations.htm

Last year inspectors visited 2014 sites and 2414 contractors. Of these the Health and Safety Executive were forced to issue 350 prohabition notices to stop dangerous work, much of which was related to work at height.

These visits will be unannounced and are going to take place on sites across Great Britain.
